So mostly everything in this newborn stage is the same as My Top Must Have Items For Baby Registry and thats because when you make your registry, you get those things before the baby comes home and you NEED to have them before the baby gets home. So lets get started!
There are honestly NO cons with this baby product. Babies are going to cry regardless with something in their nose and wiping their nose, but with this your baby will either cry sometimes, not at all, or just for a bit. My first never cried and my second does for a few seconds. This is SO much better then that bulb suction because you will never get this thing too far up your child’s nose for them to get a nose bleed.I always worry about that when suctioning with a bulb and even if the bulb is big enough to prevent bleeding you have to continually put it in and out of your babies nose to get ALL the snot out. The air from the bulb only last a few seconds and not as strong as an adult doing it. My daughter’s nose cleans out totally in no time with NoseFrida. It’s fast, extremely effective and a LIFE SAVER! I also pair this with Simply Saline Baby Nasal Mist, just use some before you suction the nose out and after!
Whether you are breastfeeding or formula fed, this bottle is the BEST bottle on the shelf then any others. The Kiinde bottle is the ONLY bottle our daughter would take and we’ve tried over 7 top name bottle brands. Check out my video review to check it out for yourself.
Here is my Amazon Review on the product as well –
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR BREAST-FED AND PICKY BABIES!!!!!
Sooooo we have tried MOMMA bottles, COMOTOMO bottles, BREASTFLOW bottles (are first one loved this bottle btw), LIFEFACTORY bottles, THE BOOB bottle, and ADIRI bottles……none of these worked! I just skipped Tomme’s and Dr. Browns and the other top name brands because from being a Nanny and Teacher to 13 infants I knew how they worked and the nipples are pretty much the same.
One thing I realized with the bottles I listed above and many others is that the flow of these bottles, even at the slowest, are WAY too fast and drip if you turn the bottles upside down. You DO NOT want bottles to do that. If the bottle is dripping with being held upside down then the baby chokes, and the baby isn’t learning how to latch and not drinking correctly as if they were breastfed.. They’ll become “Lazy Breastmilk Drinkers”.
As soon as I seen in the description that it said “THEY ARE DESIGNED TO DISCOURAGE LAZY LATCHING” I knew these would most likely be the one she likes.
So I tried Comotomo, she wasn’t having it….
Tried Breastflow…still wasn’t having it.
Tried Kiinde, took her a couple seconds (just like her soothie pacifier) and she started drinking from it within seconds. Latch is perfect and lips are flared on top and bottom.
Now just to make sure she wasn’t just drinking it at the spare of the moment I tried the other bottles a second time and she of course hated them and then tried Kiinde again and LOVED IT! Also just a little extra side note….since I didn’t have the plastic pouches I put some milk into the Kiinde nipple (did not want to wait for the bags to come in another 2 days to try it out) while it was upside down and not once did it leak.
Please don’t go through numerous bottles like I did! Save yourself time and money and just get these!! They honestly work so amazingly well and the Kiinde company is TRULY KIND. I got a free Breastmilk Starter Kit that’s hasn’t come yet because of a huge storm that delayed shipping plus they said it would be between Dec-Jan that I received it. But anyways couldn’t wait for it and told my mother I think this could be a great one to try along with the others and ordered it!
Sign up for there Facebook page they are always having great sales. I got the toddler food set. Bottles, nipples, pouches, and the bottle warmer for $60 dollars!!!!! That’s a HUGE SALE, a $120 value, the bottle warmer alone is $70!
I LOVE the Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmer…SAFER, EASIER WARMING, LONG LASTING RESERVOIR, AUTO SHUTOFF, UNIVERSAL WARMING CHAMBER! We used a crock pot when I was a teacher assistant for infants and sometimes it would get way to hot, the water was boiling! With this you do not have to worry about that at all.
I have about 7 of these bad boys! My first daughter used these and slept all throughout the night by 2 months. My second daughter uses these and sleeps all throughout the night (8-10 hours) since 2 months as well. Pair this with white noise and a Rock n’ Play Sleeper (next up) and you have instant success! It has that WOMB-LIKE feeling and PREVENTS STARTLE REFELX which wakes up your baby.
I use to use the regular swaddle blankets from Aden + Anais (which we LOVE) however, your baby will get out of this thing so quick and will disturb their peaceful sleep. Make your Aden + Anais swaddle blanket tight all you want but your little one will get out of it. A TIP…..if you only have these Aden + Anais swaddle blankets, use a flannel baby receiving blanket and fold it the long way to match the length of your babies arms, put it under your baby and wrap the ends of the flannel blanket over the arms and under the back, then swaddle your baby with the swaddle blanket (I had to do this with my first when I didn’t have a SwaddleMe blanket and it worked JUST as well). Trust me I looked at all the videos on how to swaddle a baby but she would come out every time until I tried adding a flannel blanket.
ANYWAYS… If you don’t want to do the above just get these amazing swaddle blankets (I got them in perfect condition at our baby consignment shop in town for 50 cents each), this is a MUST for a great night sleep!!
I know what your thinking…8-10 hours of sleep thats not healthy….is it? Yes it perfectly is, she’s still topping the charts at the doctors office of being super healthy, getting enough to eat and gaining weight perfectly. Please do not listen to people telling you to wake your baby up every 2-3 hours..you are going to EXHAUST yourself!
This is an AMAZING co sleeper that I have been using for my first and second child and has never failed! I LOVE that it is inclined. I believe every baby under 6 months should be inclined when sleeping because….they drink milk, you burp them and lay them down flat and then their milk comes back up and their gagging on it…. I hate that! Then when they get sick your doctor says they need to be elevated and I say “Already done”, but imagine having something flat…what are you going to do put a phone book under the mattress? NO WAY NOT SAFE!
If you are also tight on money you should get this instead of a crib. Both my children are never in a crib until 6 months or earlier and it was an easy transition with my daughter (I’ll write a blog about that later). Get this Co-Sleeper and have your child right beside you at night, it’s safe, comfortable for baby, and portable! This thing goes everywhere with us when we have to hit the road to visit family and friends.
Now you do not have to get this humidifier in particular but you do NEED a humidifier for your child. You not only need this for winter but for those colds and stuffy noses as well. We just got this new humidifier (our old one somehow ‘broke’ because I put the plastic part to it in are sanitizer and it melted like a popsicle) our old humidifier had so much mold and just YUCK. I had to clean it constantly! And we were refilling it every day twice, so in a way I was sort of glad it broke (accidentally on my part).
This humidifier has 2.6 gallon output in 24 hours, 5 year warranty Automatic Humidity Control, and the blades pull large volumes of harsh dry air through 2 humidifying filters. What I love about it most is NOTHING WILL GET WET. Our old one on high would completely soak the floor and blankets on our bed. But this bad boy does an amazing job offering the perfect humidity and being s SINUS-SAVER! Also put 6-10 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract (great for stuffy noses) in every container of water….no smell, no mold, no germs!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this baby carrier! I’ve had it since my first daughter and cannot get enough of it! It’s extremely comfortable and I love the closeness to my baby when she’s in it. This is also PERFECT if you have a Infant/Toddler Convertible Car Seat, you can’t like a normal baby car seat so the ERGObaby carrier comes next. I love that I can have MORE closeness with her when I’m running errands instead of having her in the infant car seat. I also love that its for all ages…7-45 pounds, I carried my daughter on my back with this to get her to and from daycare about 3 blocks away from our downtown apartment when living in Arlington, VA (I miss it)!
You can carry your child in 3 different positions, Front, Back and Hip. For help with this visually check out this video. I love how the baby’s weight is evenly distributed between hips and shoulders (unlike other brands that puts your back to work), the cushy padded shoulder straps are AMAZING, and the ERGObaby Infant Insert is great extra padding for your little ones newborn to 4-5 months. Perfect carrier by far from all the rest, comforts mother and child.
Now they do have different types of ERGObaby carriers. The Ergobaby Performance Baby Carrier are for those really active hikers for ultimate breathability. The ERGObaby Four Position 360 Baby Carrier which for the first is for those babies who are ready to engage the world with the front position! And the ERGObaby Wrap which has 4D Stretch material for the perfect fit and great for those who love the baby wraps!
One thing I learned from my first was what the heck was the use of getting the infant car seat if she would grow out of it in 4-6 months and then I would need to buy another $200 seat! INSANE!
I learned my lesson and just stuck with this amazing Convertible Car Seat after searching all through Amazon for the BEST one. This baby is so comfortable, so CUTE, and even though it’s $200, your saving yourself $200 on skipping that infant car seat. But its so HUGE? Not really. It fits perfect in our little Toyota Matrix and the driver or passenger can easily put his or her seat back with this. It’s rear facing fits 9-40 pounds (now they are saying keep your child rear faced till 2 years old) and forward facing 22-70 pounds.
My favorite thing about it is the AIR cushion system which is so soft and comfy for the child…the whole thing is soft and comfy! So easy to put in and adjust for the different stages for your little one!
How do I carry my baby around? That’s exactly why I put the ergo carrier as a MUST NEED item. You really don’t have to pay $1200 for a stroller…..yet. You can save up or buy a cheaper stroller and get the Ergo for now.
Another one of Mama’s best friends! Great for increasing milk supply, great when you away from baby, great for expressing the little bit of milk from them rock solid boobs when its just too much.
Pair this with the Simple Wishes Hands-Free Breastpump Bra and pump away! Yes it is an expensive pump, but I believe it is the best pump and long lasting. Even me being a stay at home mom I still use it many times. Talk with your insurance company, most of the time they will pay for it. You will not be disappointed in this amazing product!
These amazing blankets are SOOO incredibly soft and breathable! And they work great as nursing covers and burp cloths as well. Even though they are for swaddling babies, they do tend to get out of them in a blink of an eye.
Like I stated earlier ” Make your swaddle tight all you want with Aden + Anais swaddle blanket but your little one will get out of it. Trust me I looked at all the videos on how to swaddle a baby but she would come out every time until I tried adding a flannel blanket.” A TIP…..if you only have these Aden + Anais swaddle blankets, use a flannel baby receiving blanket and fold it the long way to match the length of your babies arms, put it under your baby and wrap the ends of the flannel blanket over the arms and under the back, then swaddle your baby with the swaddle blanket (I had to do this with my first when I didn’t have a SwaddleMe blanket and it worked JUST as well).
Even when baby is done with swaddling stages it is the best blanket to sleep with, take in the car, and easy to pack seeing as though its not big and bulky. Buy 2 packs you are going to want a lot of these!
At first I had the Oxo Tot PerfectPull which worked fine but I felt so bad looking at her reaction when I put the cold wipes on her bum. So I switched to this Wipe Warmer and LOVED IT! I had the wipe dispenser warmer furor first daughter but thought it would be hard getting the wipe through so I just roll them up and place them in this wipe warmer, easier and a lot quicker! Tip – you do not need that sponge it gets gross and is really unnecessary. I made my own 8×8 Homemade Wipes and my own wipe solution, go here to see the video tutorial and wipe solution.
Check out my video review of this Bouncer here.
Here’s my Amazon Review –
I LOVE IT! I’ve been looking at this swing through my preganncy and finally got the swing! Our little one is now 1 month old and loves it!!
HUGE TIP – You really do not need to spend more money and get the plush version…for what? Your baby is going to be sweating up a storm, especially when it gets HOT. Talk about overheating! Get a $5-$10 car plush insert as I did in the video to put in your baby’s seat. Spending $32 for their version? I don’t think so. Don’t let them squeeze every nickel and dime out your pocket.
I never had the old version so I can’t compare it to the old one. Even though the older version is cheaper, I went ahead and dropped a few more dollars ($50) because people complained about the old one making a clicking sound and having to take it back because it stopped working. So even though the 4moms company doesn’t mention that they may have fixed the problems, of course they are not going to put in the description that they’ve fixed promblems that the old one had.
Other then that the only new thing about it is that you can control it from your iPhone. If I am cooking or folding clothes etc I can easily control the speed and movements from my iPhone.
My daughter loves the contrast of the mobile, like other newborns, and she steadily kicks her legs in it in a content state and full of wonder.
This is a great second pair of hands while daddy is gone, when I’m by myself and just need to put her down for a little.
I put my first daughter in the swing all the time and she grew up to be so independent even at the young age of 6 months she wanted to be off doing her own thing. And now since we haven’t had a swing since are new addition has been born she loves to be held constantly and will cry if you put her down. Nothing wrong with it, it is normal, however I believe some independence is a must a few times each day so they can soothe themselves back to sleep. And this is why my daughter at 1 month sleeps 8-9 hours through the night!
Our night routine is:
Swaddle (I widen the strap to the swing to fit around the swaddled legs but wouldn’t recommend for older babies)
Nursing until she or he pulls off or drowsy
Then place in the MAMAROO (kangaroo preferably) for a few minutes and then stop it (you don’t want them getting use to being rocked constantly or you’ll be in for a treat..a restless one)
The speed I thought would be slow at the fastest setting..but boy does this baby go fast at high speed (with a 8-9 pounder). UPDATE: Starting to get a bit slower at high speed, most likely from her gaining weight. The movements are perfect, each one is great and different so every now and again I’ll switch it up. My favorite movement is Kangaroo because as a mother and past nanny I rock all my babies like this movement (typical sway and bounce). Once asleep I drop the speed from the highest to the lowest speed and switch to the Wave or Car movement.
The sounds I think are not so great. The only one I do think is decent is the fan. It’s the only one that sounds like the white noise app we have on are phone that she falls asleep too. Also I hooked up my iPod so she could listen to the iTunes radio Lullaby station and it sounds decent enough coming through the speakers.
Also wanted to mention that surprisingly the swing is light when lifted. Super light compared to the fisher price swing. And if you have little ones be careful because they can easily hit the speed button.
Overall great product, love the movements, love the speed, highly recommend to all mom and dads!
Thats all of them! I hope this has helped you when shopping for your little one.
What is your must NEED item that I missed?
